The saddening news of the passing of Kalle Oranen has reached us. Kalle was the head coach of V1, our first male team between 1987 and 2007.

Olle

Seppo Kalevi (Kalle) Oranen, born in Boekelo on the 26th of February 1946 was a Dutch football player with a Finnish father. He played for FC Twente between 1965 and 1977, in which he lived the glory years. In 1975 he reached the final of the UEFA Cup, and in 1977 he won the KNVB Cup. The record of least goals conceded in a season has, since 1971/1972 been set by Kalle and his defense with only 13 goals conceded. In 1977 he moved to Heracles Almelo for 5 years, after which his career ended in 1982.

After his football retirement, Kalle became trainer of VV Drienerlo's first team between 1987 and 2007, and he was also sports teacher at the University of Twente. In his time as trainer, multiple promotions were achieved, up to 3rd class at the highest point.

VV Drienerlo sends family, friends and others our condolences, and wishes them the needed strength to process this loss.
