First off, Drienerlo 1 played its final regular competition match against Hellendoorn at home. The weekend came with a full presence of the sun and high temperatures, and most Drienerlo teams played their final competition matches. Dames 2 set the tone with a 2-1 home win against Eibergen VR2, with goal scorers Marlies and Celia. Unfortunately, Dames 1 couldn't continue on this streak at the home pitch, due to a 1-4 loss to - yes - Eibergen VR1. But alas, it was Veld 1's turn to play on the artificial grass, which was heated up well over the course of the afternoon.

After an overwhelming opening phase in which opponent Hellendoorn could make it 0-1 within 10 seconds but didn't, Drienerlo recovered and created its own chances. The home team couldn't score yet, so Hellendoorn did before the break. Fortunately it was Tibor who put the boys next to the number 8 of the competition a minute after the break. With high pressure still present at 1-1, and the return of Lucas made sure Drienerlo received the ball up high and delivered it to Douwe: 2-1. When Hellendoorn scored a phenomenal kick from at least 20 meters out in the top corner, Drienerlo fought to its last breaths and sweat drops to get a good result just before heading into playoffs. So Dirk, without him knowing well, headed a chipped cross from Remco just before the keeper could reach it. And with just 5 minutes on the clock, Drienerlo was 3-2 up and played out the game, resulting in an increased final spot on the table: 12th with 16 points (4 wins, 4 draws).

So now, Drienerlo 1 will play its first playoff match against Sportlust Glanerbrug. The last time these teams met was in the season 2015/2016, when Sportlust was an opponent in the regular competition but eventually relegated. Now, they ended up 4th of division 4E and got themselves a period, leading to this playoff match. On the 2nd of June, around 16:45, it will be clear if Veld 1 may continue to the second and final playoff match or is relegated. See for yourself at Sportpark 't Bultserve of Glanerbrug, Enschede at 15:00.

So, if luck is on the green-white side, Drienerlo will play the second, all-deciding playoff match against another winner of a period from a fourth division team. Since the rules are set so that such a winner that ended up highest in their competition rankings only have to play one playoff match, we already know who this is: v.v. Avereest. 72,1 kilometers by car across the A35, N36 and N48 towards Balkbrug, on the edge of the province of Drenthe. If they would also be able to win that game, on the 9th of June, the green-white army ensures itself for another year of football in 3D. Let's see where we'll end up.
